Take Wing (the blog)

So yeah

Obviously the blog is on a mini-hiatus. I’m ridiculously poor and still jobless, so I don’t have the funds to buy makeup the way I was when I started this. I will be starting cosmetology school in a week and a half, so I’ll try and bring little tips and how-tos along. ‘Til then, adios!

Reviews: Mascara and MAC

Hi! Yes, I am still alive. I’m just poor and, until recently, I had no car.

But, I am diligent. So, I bring you things.

First, I am making it my goal in life to test out pretty much every mascara I see. Right now, that means L’oreal Telescopic and Benefit Bad Gal Lash.

If I could combine Telescopic and Bad Gal, it would make the perfect mascara. Bad Gal separates and volumizes wonderfully, while Telescopic makes my lashes very long and very dark. I love them both, no joke. Definitely worth my money.

I also went to MAC today and picked up a Loose Beauty Powder - Tenderdusk, to be specific. I was playing with the others and they’re all quite pretty and great for highlighting but Tenderdusk worked so well on my skintone as both a blush and a highlighter that I had to pick it up.

So pretty and shiny. Le sigh.

Also, I’ve been trying to update the main site as much as I possibly can. It’s slow going because of school/boyfriend/something else, but I do try.

Wanna know what that “something else” is?

Tonks! My new kitty. :-P She’s my muffinbutt. And yes, she is named after Tonks of Harry Potter fame. I am a geek.

Swatches of a couple more things…

I wanted to show you the beauty of Rougette:

Love. Seriously, it looks so fab with my newly dark auburn-ish hair.

Also, Otherworldly paint pot is your bestest friend if you like bright colors or wear a lot of blue:

In completely unrelated news, I’ve totaled another car. I obviously fail at life. :-(

Public Service Announcement

Go buy all of the Mattene lipsticks.

No, I am not kidding. They are gorgeous and silky and I almost forgot I was wearing lipstick because it had been several hours but there it was, hadn’t moved a bit.

I bought Rougette, but I want 75% of them. Flattering is exactly as the name implies, 40s Pink is a perfect dusty color and Tango is feisty-awesome.

So buy them, buy them I say!

This has been a PSA from your friendly (not-so) neighborhood MAC addict.

I am a horrible person (or: I bought more makuep)

What, you thought joblessness would keep me from buying makeup? Fool!

I went to MAC to check out the new Matte². Holy cow. I want every single one of those eyeshadows. Thank goodness they’re permanent. They’re gorgeous, with fab color payoff. So creamy and soft and fantastic.

I ended up with (L-R) Brown Script, Prussian and Newly Minted. Swatch time!

Gorgeous.

Speaking of gorgeous, I also ended up with Thunder from Blue Storm. Somehow, I missed this particular eyeshadow the first time ’round, but not this time. It’s so pretty.

Lookit that duochrome goodness!

So, yeah. I’m disgustingly poor now. :-( Oh well. Makeup>groceries, obviously.

Oh, and in reference to the previous post, the zucchini brownies were actually pretty good. Hoo-hah!

I love The Body Shop. Seriously.

I really do. I stopped in the other day, which wasn’t smart because I am broke as a joke. But, like, free gift with purchase! So I had to buy stuff.

I picked up the Shea Body Butter, which is amazing. It smells divine, absorbs quickly, and makes my skin so so so soft.

Grabbed the Papaya Body Scrub as well. I love body scrubs in general, and this one is fab. I have terribly dry skin and it just sloughs the dryness away, especially when followed by the lovely shea body butter. Soft skin for the win.

If you know me, you know I’m addicted to lip balms/glosses/sticks. Addicted. I live in jeans and, at any given moment, there are at least two, most likely three, and sometimes 4 different lip products in my pocket. So i bought the mango Lip Butter. They weren’t kidding. It’s almost the same consistency of the body butter but it’s for your lips. It’s a great product. It makes my lips deliciously smooth and soft, and it smells and tastes pretty good to boot (hey, my boyfriend likes it!).

These products were enough to get me the free gift, which came in a cute, lilac-silver metallic clutch. Inside were a Hi-Shine Lip Treatment in a sheer raspberry color (it smells fantastic), a small Camomile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover (which I’ve yet to use but shall soon), a decently sized sample of Aloe Day Cream (which is a great, light mosturizer), and a sample-sized Super Volume Mascara.

I’m gonna have to buy a full-size of the mascara. It’s that fantastic. My lashes are lush and long and it doesn’t clump. At all. No clumps whatsoever. It’s love.

My project for the day, however, included very little makeup. My mother and I have attempted zucchini brownies. They’re out of the oven. I’ll let you know if they’re any good, haha!

Oh dear…

Whatever you do, do not even consider tallying up how much you’ve spent on makeup. Don’t do it. It’s a bad idea all around.

Because, you see, once you realize you’ve spent nearly $1500 on MAC alone since the beginning of the year (and probably close to two grand total when you include everything else), you start thinking about children in third world countries.

Or maybe it’s just me. But still. Ohhh my gosh. So much money.

Random swatches and whatnot

Since I’m near my camera again, I decided to post some swatches of the products I talked about in the last post.

First, some eye stuff:
Eye stuffs!
L-R: Smoke Signal pigment, Rubenesque paint pot, Moss Scape paint pot.

Lip stuff:
Lip stuffs!
L-R: Burnin’ l/s, Bazaarish l/g, Bazaarish over Cranapple cremestick l/l.

As I mentioned before, I bought some other random stuff along the way. I’m bored and avoiding homework, so swatches of those as well!

Random other shtuff
L-R: Sublime Culture cremestick l/l, Viva Glam V l/s, Sunbasque blush (heavily applied), Gold Spill MSF.

Did I not tell you to buy Gold Spill? Seriously, look at that hot, highlighting goodness. Sunbasque is my new favorite blush. And if you’re a fan of neutral lips, Sublime Culture+Viva Glam V+clear gloss=hot sex. Not kidding. So gorgeous.

What else have I bought recently? Oh, the 224. (I’m slowly becoming a brush whore.) Aaanyways, I bought this after an MA used it on me during a makeover. It is soft and blends like a dream. A dream, I say. It’s amazing. It’s the perfect crease brush, I swear to you. It smooths and sheers even the darkest, hardest-to-work with colors. It’s the only reason my Smoke Signal pigment is getting used. Seriously. Buy it. Now. NOW.

I may or may not be doing a tutorial again soon. Like, tonight. I don’t know. I’m bored as hell.
